She signed with Columbia Records in 1997. Sweet Kisses (1999), her debut album, sold 2 million copies in the United States. The lead single "I I Wanna Love You Forever" was a commercial hit. Simpson changed her look to make her look more mature for her second album Irresistible (2001). The album's title track was her second top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) had certified the album as gold. In This Skin (2003), Simpson's third studio album was sold out in three million copies in the United States. Simpson was famous for her friendship with Nick Lachey and her marriage to Nick Lachey. Simpson also appeared on the reality television show on MTV, Newlyweds, Nick and Jessica between 2003 and 2005. Simpson made her movie debut in The Dukes of Hazzard (2006) as Daisy Duke after the release of ReJoyce The Christmas Album (2004).
